Guide
Update, sign out and uninstall the connector
Keep the connector up to date, go back to the previous version, sign out and remove it.
- Applies to
- Connector 0.2.0
- Time
- About 5 minutes
- What it changes
- Changes the program or the saved sign-in on this computer.
- Last reviewed
- , by Product documentation
What to know before you start
- Signing out ends this computer's sign-in. Tunnels stop working from it until you sign in again.
- A connector installed with npm is updated by npm, not by the update command.
Steps
Step 1. Update a connector you downloaded.
Terminal instawormhole-connector update --latestThe connector fetches the signed release manifest and the file for your system, and installs the update only if both check out against keys built into the program. If you installed with npm, update with npm instead.
You should see: The connector installs the update and reports it.
To check: The version command prints the new version.
Step 2. Go back to the previous version if an update causes a problem.
Terminal instawormhole-connector rollbackYou should see: The connector restores the previous version.
To check: The version command prints the earlier version.
Step 3. Sign out when you no longer want this computer to open tunnels.
Terminal instawormhole-connector logoutYou should see: The connector signs this computer out.
To check: The status command reports that this computer is not signed in.
Step 4. Remove the connector.
Terminal instawormhole-connector uninstallThis signs out exactly like logout, then tells you how to remove the program: npm uninstall --global @instawormhole/connector if you installed with npm, or delete the program file you downloaded. The connector stores nothing else on your computer.
You should see: The terminal prints how to remove the program and confirms that nothing else is stored.
You are done when
- The status command reports what you expect: signed in after an update, or not signed in after logging out.
If something goes wrong
- The update command says the program is managed by npm.
- Your copy is managed by npm. Update with npm install --global @instawormhole/connector@latest, or run it with npx, which fetches the latest.
